Sunsets. Everybody loves ’em. You don’t have to get up early to see them and they are very photogenic, even in cloudy condtions. The most casual photographer, a traveler with a cheap cell phone camera, can typically grab a good shot.
I’ve seen sunsets all over the world and not all are created equal. I can say with authority that Nicaragua has the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
Do you see the cover photo above? It was taken with an iPhone 6s, yet it still looks beautiful. Here’s another iPhone pic:
Both iPhone photos were taken in the small river village of El Castillo in southeastern Nicaragua.
Yet this was nothing compared to what I saw on the island of Ometepe. These photos were taken with my GH5, not my iPhone.
Purples, blues, oranges, and deep shadows. It was stunning and it was taken just before the sun dipped below the horizon. There’s one more photo I want to share.
Ometepe has two massive volcanoes and I snapped this one as the sun went behind one of them. The tip of the volcano was encircled by clouds and it made for a breathtaking view.Sunsets are gorgeous everywhere in Nicaragua, but so far Ometepe takes the cake.
